Blind in Modern Warfare 2?

Red, Green , Fire!

Red, Green , Fire!

If you are a color-blind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 player (like myself), a group of gamers have started an online petition in the hopes that it will convince the developer Infinity Ward, to release a patch for the game to correct some red/green issues.

In multiplayer matches of MW2 (VGA’s #1 FPS game of 2009), the fastest way to distinguish a teammate from an enemy is if their name is in red (enemy) or green (teammate). The same colors are also used in the game’s radar, that allows players to view the location of others. The petition also cites some statistics saying that about 1 in 10 of all males are color blind, and 1 in 20 are females.

I have been playing quite a bit of MW2 lately, and I although I don’t think that the red/green issue could be soley responsible for my awful kill/death ratio, it did spark my interest when I ran across this info. I do find myself firing at teammates quite a bit.

If a color-blind patch does get implemented, I will gladly post ‘before and after photos’ of my stats to see if their was actually a significant amount of impairment.

Until then, I’ll just aim at what moves. And ask questions later.

Force Unleashed Part Deux

Monday, December 14th, 2009

During the VGA’s this weekend, one very surprising piece of info came about when the announcers began talking of a new ‘Star Wars’ title being unveiled during the awards ceremony.

At first I actually figured, wow Battlefront III is finally going to be talked about, the leaked trailer in the past year was pretty impressive. It offered some new elements to the game, more heroes and such. And by far, the Battlefront along with Lego Star Wars series has to be Lucas Arts most lucrative and strong selling series.

But….what we got on our hungry Star Wars plate was: FU 2.

Yeah, and I really felt like saying that (FU2 dammit). I can’t understand the logistics in sequalling a game, that really seemed to not carry through with what it was all led up to be. So yeah, let’s make another one. When Battlefront, along with even Renegade Squadron for PSP were really great games, and are over due for a 360/PS3 upgrade.

Force Unleashed 2 story seems to be as follows: Marek (the apprentice) is alive. However, The former Sith now appears to be a Jedi, as he wields their distinctive blue light sabers to slay a towering, Rancor-eating monster. The trailer features voiceovers from both Darth Vader and Yoda talking to Marek, perhaps indicating that he will be torn between the Light and Dark Sides of the Force.

On whatever level, I really do hope the devs make up for some of the short comings of this title. It was indeed lacking, and full of repetitive monotone gameplay. I had more fun playing the downloadable demo than the complete game itself.

Us Star Wars gaming fans need our fix, and we need it bad. Unleash it, bring it, deliver it and stop the fails. Or we’re sending Mace Windu at your ass, and he’s one bad mf’er.

Coin-Op Tv's Hailey Bright
How many people can you say you know that were “discovered” while they were out shopping? None? Well, it was the same for us until we met Hailey Bright.

The lovely co-host for the weekly streaming show “Coin-Op TV“, Hailey is bound to pop up on your geek radar sooner or later. Whether it’s on the red carpet at the Spike TV Video Game Awards, on video game box art, or in a few upcoming movies, she’s hard to miss. Hailey was recently selected as IGN.com’s Babe of the Day(we picked her as a Gamette for a whole month, take that IGN!!) and will be at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.

While we can’t say we were the first ones to discover Hailey, we can say we have some very well shot, very exclusive photos of Hailey (courtesy of Blank Logo Photography).  If you haven’t caught a glimpse of this beauty, we recommend checking out her Gamette Gallery here.

And should you be so inclined, you can check out more of the beautiful Hailey at HaileyBright.com.  You can also chat with her live on Thursday nights 10pm CST when she co-hosts Coin-Op TV (found at Thestream.tv) where she takes live questions for the guests.  Not only do you get a dose of Hailey but you get to watch some good geeky Webivision.

So when people ask you if you know someone who actually did get discovered while shopping, you can tell them we introduced you to someone that Bright’end our day.
