Bye bye CD's, step aside for Mister Mini SanDisk
By Crutchboy
Looks like in the future you can possibly turn all your old CD's and
Cd boxes into coasters because you can fit about 100 mini
SanDisks in the space that your old compact disc took up.

Just like vinyl is out, it seems that this little bad boy may be moving
in soon. According to SanDisk Corporation "four major record labels
and retailers Best Buy Co. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. are hoping that
albums sold on microSD memory cards will at least provide an
additional stream of sales".
This new format is called "Slot Music" and is meant to address two intertwined trends.
Albums are still sold in a physical format — 449 million were sold on CDs in 2007, while 50
million were sold digitally,  yet CDs are decreasingly popular. Albums sold on CD dropped
almost 19 percent last year. This could be a great indicator of future sales for a new media,
although a nice portion of  the decrease was due to down loadable tunes from online
services and such (digital sales).

And how bout this, when CD's came out you had to go out and by a new 'fan dangled'
compact disc player. Well guess what, most of your new cell phones and PDA's come well
equipped with a fancy mini-sd or full size SanDisk player already. Now all you need to do is
find some great speakers or a nice FM transmitter for your car and presto you'll never have to
buy a CD again.
