Busy Gamer Reckon Crew raids
STAPLE without a healer!
With recorders and cameras in our eager hands, we entered the Expo with targets in mind...
And then were quickly distracted by the exhibitions.

Shortly after the Crew arrived, Lord Vile, Austin’s local Super Villain showed up on his
recruitment drive/promotional appearance. St. Tim was able to score a last minute evil
interview with this dastardly figure which you’ll be able to see here very soon.

The Crew attended the Webcomics panel with Scott Kurtz of PvP Online and Danielle
Corsetto of Girls with Slingshots, two of the artists Grits stalked and cornered for interviews.
Also appearing on the panel were Kris Straub of Starslip Crisis and David Malki of
Wondermark fame. The panel began with talk of Pregnancy tests and “nipple clouds”. It was
*that* cool.

St. Tim snuck out of the panel to get yet another interview, this time with Eric Powell of The
Goon. We forgave him for leaving but not for missing the many poop jokes that were made
while he was gone but he may never forgive himself for missing Scott Kurtz’s Yoda
impression when telling a young artist, “Too old for the training are you”. It was very funny and
we all laughed at the little girl who asked for the advice and then Scott made another poop
joke. Okay, so we didn’t laugh at the little girl, the panel’s advice to her was very good, and the
Yoda crack was actually at Scott’s own expense. But my version of the truth is much funnier
and when I tell it, Scott Kurtz was doing his Yoda impression with an Irish accent.

We’d be lax in our coverage, not to mention unappreciative, if we didn’t mention the pre-party
at Austin Books and Comics. Schlitz and Out of the Gutter Magazine provided the malt liquor
and Austin Books graciously opened their doors to the fans and artists present that night.
Nobody spilled beer on any comics while we were there so I think that counts as a success.

We’ll be pushing all of our interviews to the site throughout the week and featuring some of
the artists we met at the Expo so check back all week for new content...

Busygamers St.Tim, Grits & Crutchboy @ STAPLE 08!
by Grits
It was a Saturday, which is almost universally
a good day, and the sun was shining in
Austin, Texas. The Busy Gamer Reckon Crew
had been prepping for this day for a long time,
at least one whole morning. That’s dedication
right there for you, dear readers. And the
whole crew had one mission in mind, the
Staple Media Expo. Crutchboy, Grits,
Reverend Torres, and St. Tim loaded up the
vehicles and headed out to the Monarch Event
Center for the Expo.
